Where To Buy Filipiniana Costume for Linggo ng Wika

Last year, we bought Ykaie’s Filipiniana costume from Tutuban Mall in Divisoria. This year, since we didn’t have time and we also have to buy one for my niece, Cyra, we opted to buy at the mall.

You’ll pass over the wall fountain  and other furniture {living room set/dining set} area is the Children’s section.

Landmark carries a few kinds of costume for both boys and girls but the downside is there’s a limited choice. For the girls, I think they only have three kinds.

I chose the Maria Clara costume for Ykaie. And then the Kimona/Baro’t Saya costume for Cyra.

The Maria Clara dress originated from the conventional baro’t saya of early Filipino women. The baro’t saya consists of a loose, long-sleeved blouse, which is then worn over a wide, ankle-length skirt.

Costumes costs ₱350 – ₱450

The Kimona is almost the same, except that it has a headband and an alampay….

So where is the best place to buy your Filipiniana Costume? If your want your child to stand out, buy from Divisoria because there’s lots of choices and there are many one of a kind costumes. But if you don’t have time and you’re passing by the mall, then buy from the mall. They usually carry these costumes during the month of August when Buwan ng Wika {Language Month} is celebrated.

If the local market or the palengke nearest you has a dress section, I’m sure they have these costumes as well.

  1. Wow Lingo ng Wika na pala dyan. That is so cool that stores already sold costumes for this event. In my time we have to be creative pati kurtina ni nanay naging costume namin hahahaha.

  2. When my children are still small and required to wear filipiniana costume during the Linggo ng Lahi celebration, we found it time-consuming and tedious pre-occupation. Thanks for this guide, now mommies will find this post truly helpful.
