Wubbzy School Surprise and Pooh: Is My Shirt Getting Smaller?

I read books to ykaie before she goes to bed. I read fables, parables and other stories for children. Among her favorites are The Little Lamb and the Wolf and The Ant and The Grasshopper. These are stories that  has more pictures than words. At night, she would go to her bookshelf and choose what story she wants me to read.

Last year, I bought these books for her, hoping that she would outgrow her books that has more pictures than words in it. I felt then that she’s ready to move forward into books with longer stories. I was wrong, she didn’t want me to read these books and clung to her old ones.

I was surprised two days ago, she chose Wubbzy for me to read and the Winnie the Pooh book the next day. I guess, she really is growing up and wants books with longer stories.

Wubbzy School Surprise is about going to school. Wubbzy is afraid to go to school for the first time because he thinks that you can’t have fun in school. So Widget created a robot teacher to teach him everything he needs to know but it went out of control and exploded. He decided to just go to the playground and play but there’s no one to play with because everybody’s in school. I think she can relate to the story because she will be starting nursery soon.

Winnie the Pooh: Is My Shirt Getting Smaller? is about growing. Roo woke up one day and wonders why his shirt suddenly got smaller so as his favorite bowl and chair. So he went out and  thought that the trees and Pooh’s wooden house must have shrunk too. Hah!, maybe if Pooh’s house is like one of those steel buildings, they wouldn’t shrink at all but it is not and the whole Hundred Acre Wood is shrinking too!

Well, I think it’s time to buy ykaie a couple of new books..
