I grew up in a carpet-less, rug-less household. The reason was because my mom said it was too dusty in our place and she thought that if she put rugs around the house then those rugs would only gather dust and she would have a hard time cleaning it. Now that I’m a mom myself, I wanted beautiful, patterned rugs around the house. Not only do they look very elegant, they also make the various rooms inside the house look made up. They make the home ambience more relaxing and pleasing to the eye. I guess that makes up for the cleaning and the washing.
This is why when I had our bedroom renovated, I decided to to put a nice brown rug. I wanted a carpet but a carpet is still a big step for me. I had to start small, so I started with a brown floral rug. So far I am happy with the result. It made me less worried that my playful daughter might accidentally bump her butt or head on the hard wooden floor while she’s running around.
I admire those people who put tremendous effort in making different types of rugs. It’s not easy making rugs specially if they are making it using only their hands. In some parts of the world, handmade rugs has changes some lives. It has given some people a job so they could bring home food to their family. In my world, it made me less worried and I’m enjoying the look that it has given my home.
