I’ve started eating oatmeal a few times a week because of health reasons. peanutbutter♥ is doing the same mainly because he wants to lose weight. I prefer steel cut oatmeal because it is less processed and it doesn’t become mushy after a while. The downside is that it takes longer to cook {20-30 minutes}. So what I do is cook a few servings and put the rest in the freezer to be eaten later.
People eat oatmeal for different reasons but let me give you some reasons why you should too.
1. It helps in weight loss. Oatmeal is rich in soluble fibre thereby making you feel full longer. If you feel full longer, then you won’t have to eat a lot.
2. It helps lower cholesterol, blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart disease. Again, it’s the sloble fibre in oatmeal that does that. It helps remove LDL or bad cholesterol.
3. It may reduce the risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
4. It helps keep your memory keen. Yup, it is rich in Vitamin B, the vitamin needed by the brain and the nervous system to function well.
5. Oatmeal, specially the instant oatmeal is quick to prepare. It is very convenient to eat specially if you’re on the go. You can easily pop it into the microwave for two minutes and you have easy breakfast.
6. Oatmeal is delicious. Yes, you don’t have to be stuck in water-milk-sugar preparation of your oatmeal. You can even bake it. This why one of my goal is to prepare oatmeal in different flavors so I can share it with everyone who thinks oatmeal is boring. It shouldn’t be…
