Kitchen Tips & Tricks: How to Soften Sugar that’s Hardened

Moms are the ones busiest in the kitchen, because of this we are also the ones encountering the most kitchen dilemmas. Let me try and offer simple solutions to everyday kitchen problem through a new portion in my blog called KTT or Kitchen Tips and Tricks.

Have you ever experienced trying to spoon hardened sugar from your sugar jar? Well, sugar, specially brown sugar, hardens when it’s been sitting in the cupboard for too long because it’s loses it’s moisture content due to evaporation.

So how do you soften hardened sugar??

There are two ways you can moisturize your sugar. One option is to place your sugar in a microwaveable container and heat in the microwave for 2 minutes together with a bowl of water on the side. Second is to put the sugar in a bowl and cover top with wet tissue/paper towel, then wrap in plastic and let stand overnight.

You’ll sure find yourself with easy to spoon sugar the next day…
