Ykaie is growing up to be quite the little lady and she is also growing up artsy fartsy. She likes creating and making things — things she sees in youtube, things that are recyclable, — anything which she thinks can be fun to tinker with.
A few months ago, squishies are her thang. Squishies toys are those brightly colored foam toys that come in cute shapes and sizes most in the form of food that has faces and animals that are just too cute. It is played by squeezing it over and over and it returns back into its original form each time.
Ykaie started making homemade squishies using regular foam, paper, and clear packaging tape. She would cut it out into her desired shape and well turn it into a squishy.
These are just some of those she made. There’s marshmallow, milk shake, cereal box, a slice of rainbow cake, s’mores, pb&j toast, and she even made potato chips.
After that, she leveled up and started using memory foam. She tried making fries, choclate chip cookies and even a bento box filled with rice, fried, chicken, hardboiled egg, salad, and a brownie.
It’s not yet as polished as she wants it to be but with lots of practice, I think she’ll soon make great squishies….
I’m really proud of this kid unleashing her creativity while having fun at the same time.
