Shakey’s Inspires Guests: “Love the planet like you love our pizza”

For over 40 years, Shakey’s has been an avenue of great times and great memories in the country. What started as a dining hub became a family tradition; a place where people come together and share a love for what they are known for—piping-hot, delicious thin-crust pizza. And now more than ever, Shakey’s recognizes the need to take that love and share it with a greater purpose.

Shakey’s Inspires Guests: “Love the planet like you love our pizza”

Shakey’s is committing to sustainable development by becoming more involved in social and environmental causes by partnering with World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) through their #AyokoNgPlastik movement. The alliance was formalized at Shakey’s WOW Center in Paranaque  during the the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Vic Gregorio, President and CEO, Shakey’s Pizza and Jose Angelito M. Palma, President and CEO, WWF Philippines. The MOA seeks to lessen, and eventually, eliminate single-use plastics in the country by raising awareness of the issue of plastic pollution through transformative partnerships with corporations. The message Shakey’s  wants to spread is clear: “Love the planet like you love our pizza.”

Shakey’s will start by switching to more environment-friendly packaging and applying recyclable materials to their pizza boxes, takeout containers, packaging and other advertising materials. They will also start a straw-less campaign within their stores and switch to using recyclable brown paper napkins. Consumers will also be part of this advocacy when they order online, as donations will be part of their online ordering system.

“It is our duty both to our guests and to nature itself to protect the world we live in,” says Gregorio.  “What we have here is a platform that can raise awareness, educate, and create a positive lasting impact to our environment. There is no better time to start than today.”

There is no doubt that for the next 40, 80, 120, and so many more years, Shakey’s will continue to do what they do best:  give their guests great memories and great food, while doing its share in caring for Filipino families by saving the planet and helping ensure a better future.

  1. This is a good campaign.. Mostly naman lalo na sa malls, no plastic policy na.. Customers need to bring eco bags when they go on shopping.. Tama nga naman, kelan pa natin umpisahan? Kung pwede naman ngayon na.. Umpisahan na.. Para din naman ito sa atin.. Para mapangalagaan natin ang ating mahal na kalikasan..
