Now that Daddydoodledoo is back to corporate, I am back navigating the beautiful, messy world of juggling work-from-home life with two adorable (and often, chaotic) daughters. If you’re picturing a Pinterest-perfect home with a smiling, perfectly coiffed mom, well, you are greatly mistaken.
My days are a whirlwind of household chores punctuated by impromptu dance parties, deadlines met amidst mountains of laundry, and “Mommy, I need a snack!” echoing in the background like a never-ending soundtrack. It’s challenging, yes, but also incredibly rewarding, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world (well, maybe a few uninterrupted hours of sleep hihihi).
Here’s a glimpse into the not-so-glamorous, but oh-so-real life of a work-at-home mom:
The Early Bird (Who Wishes They Could Sleep In): My mornings begin with the gentle (or not-so-gentle) ringing of my alarm clock. Then off to the kitchen to prepare school baons for both Ykaie and Twinkle plus breakfast. Then it’s bath time, bihis-time, and while they go off to school — the demands of the 6 cats and 3 dogs will take place.
The Juggling Act: My workspace is a testament to my multitasking skills. One minute I’m crafting a presentation, the next I’m explaining the intricacies of dinosaurs while simultaneously mediating a sibling squabble. It’s a constant dance between deadlines and homeworks, and let’s just say, my memory game has never been sharper.
The Guilt Trip: No matter how hard I try, the guilt monster sometimes rears its ugly head. Did I spend enough quality time with the kids? Did I give my best at work? The answer, most days, is probably not to both. But I’m learning to embrace the “good enough” mom mantra, because frankly, striving for perfection is a recipe for burnout.
The Unexpected Perks: Working from home means more cuddles during lunch breaks, impromptu story time sessions, and witnessing those magical “firsts” firsthand. It’s a constant reminder of what truly matters in life, and that sometimes, the most important work happens outside the confines of a computer screen.
The Importance of Support: This journey wouldn’t be possible without my amazing support system. My partner, my family, and even my sister next door who helps ā they’re the wind beneath my wings, the coffee to my mornings, and the wine to my evenings (kidding… mostly).
So, to all the working mamas out there, I see you. I hear you. You’re doing an incredible job, even when it feels like everything is falling apart (because let’s be honest, it probably is sometimes). Remember, you are strong, capable, and loved. And hey, if you need a virtual coffee date and a listening ear, my inbox is always open.
Until next time, keep calm and carry on, mamas! We’ve got this (most of the time, at least).

This sounds like my life! I also have a menagerie at home, and it’s chaos trying to work and take care of the kids. How do you manage to stay sane during those sibling squabbles? And do your furry friends ever interrupt your work? š
This is such a relatable read! I can totally picture the chaos of getting the kids ready in the morning. And that workspace multitasking? Been there! I also love how you’re dealing with the guilt. It’s so easy to feel that way. Do you have any tricks for quickly switching between work and mom mode? I could use some! And those unexpected perks sound amazing. I bet the cuddles are the best part.
