It has been a tradition that in celebration of a birth of a baby whether a boy or a girl, an announcement in the form a cigar with printed bands bearing the message “It’s a Boy!” or “It’s a Girl!” is given to relatives, friends or family members.
Some say that it started because in the old days, cigars are rare and expensive. So in special celebrations like the birth of a baby, the father or the grandfathers give out cigars to their friends. Some say, that it’s just a man- thing. That men smoke cigars so that’s how they celebrate important occasions in their lives.
