If you’re a parent, you’ll know how important it is that any lounge furniture you buy not only needs to fit in with the style of the room, but also has to be hugely practical. From storing books and toys, to keeping gadgets and media away from little hands, the humble TV cabinets really has its work cut out once you introduce children into the situation.
There are several options when it comes to choosing a TV cabinet, depending mostly on what its main function is to be. If you have older children, you’re fairly likely to want space for books and computer games, so opt for a design which incorporates a large surface area for the television with open shelving for quick and easy access. Anyone with toddlers will be looking for somewhere to store baskets of toys and lock away any technology, so choose a TV cabinet which has solid wooden doors or drawers, and plenty of space for crates or boxes to keep small toys tidy. The most important element is, obviously, safety – so make sure you steer clear of any glass fronted doors or shelves.
While practicality is important, it’s also still essential to choose a TV cabinet which sits nicely in the room; if you’re a fan of retro and vintage themed furniture, a mid-century modern style cabinet will be the ideal place to keep your television. If you prefer all things modern, opt for a sleek design to elevate your flatscreen; a simple, minimalist style and understated metal finishings will fit in with even the most contemporary setting. For those who like their furniture with a classic look, choose a chunky solid wood TV cabinet in sturdy oak or pine, with panelled doors and traditional handles.

My hubby had to customize our entertainment center after we bought a big LCD TV because it is still in a very good shape. We don’t want to throw it away and buy a new one.
Why throw the one we have when we can still use it?
I love this TV cabinet since my husband and I really prefer the vintage and “old” look of yesteryears more than the more modern designs.
Same here. I like the wood designs before than the one nowadays.
I just recently purchased a vintage style closet, the one with a sliding glass on top of it. And next is this kind of TV Cabinet!
Hope you get to purchase one soon…
We had one like this before, but it was weakened but the floods we kept on having at home until it self destructed. Sigh. Hopefully, we get a new one soon!! If so, will definitely check out what you’ve shared here!

Sayang we get flooded here in Manila. It’s nice pa naman to own stuff like this.
Oh yes i like that design alot! The kind of wood and stain is high end
It’s a bit expensive too?
We are planning to remove our big entertainment center and use a small one like that.
It looks cute and is looks easy enough to clean.
I am a fan of the mid-century cabinet and have been looking for one and still not lucky. They are so hard to find these days since a lot of people like to buy them now. I would surely love to have one for a TV stand. There are quite a few things to consider when you have kids at home now because not only you consider the looks of it, but can withstand having kids around as well. I love this TV stand that is in the picture though.
I also love that TV stand in the photo.
I have two toddlers so everything we own right now aren’t permanently gonna stay. I will pretty things once they’re old enough to care for it.:)
It’s hard to keep things pretty, neat and clean when you have toddlers..
