Yesterday, sis and I renewed our passports at the DFA. I also applied a passport for ykaie.
Since the DFA has a new system, applying for a passport is fairly easy. First thing you have to do is to apply online or call for an appointment. Make sure you allow at least two months ahead of your scheduled trip, you know, just in case something goes wrong with the application process.
DFA Appointment Hotline (02) 737-1000.
Then, of course, you have to gather all the necessary documents like your
- Birth Certificate in SECPA {Security Paper} issued by the NSO
- Original Valid ID
- Marriage Contract (MC) in Security Paper issued by NSO, if you are married and getting a passport under your married name.
- Old Passport { for renewal}
For MINORS, like Ykaie:
- Passport of both parents{ original and photocopy}
- Original Birth Certificate from NSO in SECPA
- Personal appearance of minor with either parent.
- Birth Certificate {in SECPA} of parent accompanying the child
Make sure you have a photocopy of everything. For renewals, make sure you have a photocopy of pages 1,2,3 (amendment) and last page of your old passports.
Passport Fees
Make sure you bring extra money with you when you go to the DFA. You never know when you’re gonna be needing it. the passport fees are:
Regular Processing: Php 950.00 (25 working days)
Rush Processing: Php 1,200.00 (15 working days)
An additional fee of Php 200.00 will be charged for processing of Lost Passports if it is still valid.
We were planning on having a rush processing for our passport but I think last week, DFA’s system broke down and because of that, there was no rush processing allowed. If you really need your passport to be rushed, you have to show them Proof of Urgency.
If you want your passport delivered so you won’t have to go back, you have to pay P120 Delivery Fee via 2Go.
