One of the places where we took the kids when peanutbutter♥ came home last April was at the Avilon Zoo in Rizal. We’ve taken Ykaie to the Manila Zoo when she was a lot younger and she enjoyed it. So we thought we should take her to a bigger zoo this time around.
Avilon Zoo is currently the largest zoological institution in the Philippines in terms of land area and collection of animals. We wanted to take Ykaie and of course, her cousins, to a bigger zoo so she could see more varieties of animals. Those that she wouldn’t be able to see back at the Manila Zoo.
We brought the kids animal hats because we thought it would look nice in the photos. Entrance at Avilon Zoo is ₱400 for adults and for children above 3 feet.
Our first stop were the Alligators. They have different species of alligators both big and small.
Ykaie was interested, curious, and scared of them all at the same time.
The truth is since this happened last April, I ‘ve already forgotten the names of the other animals that we saw. Pardon me but just go through the photos. I think they should speak for themselves..hee.
Fun Feeding the Arapaimas
Arapaimas are the largest freshwater fish of South America and they are carnivorous. They like eating raw meat.
You can buy a bowl of raw chickens to feed them for ₱30.
They will give you a plastic bag so you can throw pieces of chicken in the water…..
Look at the arapaimas fight their way to each chicken piece!
Here we are getting a photo with the White Bengal Tiger and the kids imitating how the tiger gives their roar….
Avilon Zoo is composed of 7.5 hectares of land. After exploring half of it, we were got tired and thirsty. Good thing there is a big cafeteria where we could rest, drink, eat, and go to the restroom.
We even took this photo at that cafeteria….
It was hot that day, and the kids chose ice cream to be their “refreshments”….
They haven’t even finished their ice creams yet when we started walking again to finish the other half of the zoo….
This is where we met “Joey”, the orangutan that is always a part of our conversation when we are talking about animals…
I have more photos to show you about our day at Avilon Zoo. And I think that aside from a really fun day with the children, I was able to capture some of our happiest moments. I am actually planning of having it printed out. What do you think?
Till my next post.
One Response
Ugghh.. Manila Zoo is the worst I’ve ever been. It’s a shame that such a zoo, which treats animals cruelly and let them live in a harsh condition, is located in the capital of the country. This Rizal Zoo might be a bit better than manila Zoo. but when it comes to zoos, I don’t trust the Philippine government with it. A good one is in Carmen, Cebu, the Safari Park, where animals can roam in a bigger space. You guys should check it out.
