My heart is full! We celebrated Mother’s Day out yesterday! We had lunch at Fastastic Baka and had froyo for dessert after. Then we bonded over game cards and gameboards at All aBoard XP by Gaming Library.
All aBoard XP by Gaming Library is a board game cafe. It’s a place for people to gather and play board games, both new and experienced. Here are their rates…
Since it was Mother’s day yesterday, I got to play for free! We only paid ₱500. ₱150 each for Daddydoodledoo and Ykaie plus ₱200 for Twinkle. We were able to play three games in one hour.
Organ Attack
The first one was Organ Attack, a fun, educational, and slightly irreverent card game. The goal of the game is to be the last player remaining with at least one organ. Players strategically use affliction cards to attack their opponents’ organs, while also using immunity cards to protect their own.
Here’s a quick rundown of the gameplay:
- The game is designed for 2-6 players.
- Each player starts with a hand of organ cards representing various human organs (heart, lungs, etc.) and a deck of action cards.
- Action cards include affliction cards (like “kidney stones” or “the flu”) and immunity cards (“healthy lifestyle” or “vaccine”).
- On your turn, you can play an affliction card to target one of your opponent’s organs, or you can play an immunity card to defend one of your own organs.
- If an organ is successfully targeted with an affliction card, that organ is discarded from the player’s hand.
- The first player to lose all of their organs is out of the game.
- The last player remaining with at least one organ wins the game!
- Organ Attack is a lighthearted game that is easy to learn and fun to play for people of all ages. It’s a great way to learn a little bit about the human body in a humorous way.
It was a lot of fun. Twinkle and I ended up fighting and Twinkle won the game.
Pengoloo
Our second game was Pengoloo, a children’s memory game centered around penguins and their eggs.
Here’s the rundown: Players take turns rolling colored dice and try to find penguins hiding eggs matching the rolled color. A good memory is key as you can revisit previously found eggs to keep searching. An optional advanced rule allows players to steal penguins with matching eggs from each other, adding a layer of strategy. The first player to collect six penguins on their iceberg wins the game.
Ykaie ended up winning the game.
Stick Stack
Our third and last game was Stick Stack is a fun dexterity game in that combines a little bit of luck with a whole lot of suspense! it’s a little like Jenga in the sense that it’s a balancing game.
Here’s a rundown of how to play:
Objective: Be the player with the fewest points at the end of the game. Points are earned by collecting sticks that fall from the tower during your turn, or by knocking the entire tower over.
Components:
- A central tower with a wobbly base and a platform on top
- A bag of colorful sticks (each with two different colors)
- Starting platform (optional)
Gameplay:
- Setup: Build the central tower and place the bag of sticks nearby. Players can optionally start with a stick or two on their personal starting platform (not included in all versions).
- Taking a Turn: On your turn, you have two options:
- Draw a stick: Reach into the bag blindly and pull out a stick.
- Use a collected stick: If you have sticks from previous rounds that fell off the tower, you can choose to use one of those instead.
- Placing the Stick: Carefully add the chosen stick to the tower. The key thing here is that the colors on the new stick must only touch matching colors on the platform or other sticks already placed. You can’t use your other hand to steady the tower while placing the stick.
- Watch it Wobble!: The tower will likely wobble as you add sticks. If any sticks fall off the tower during your turn but the main structure remains standing, collect those fallen sticks and place them in front of you.
- Rounds End: The round ends when either:
- All the sticks have been placed on the tower.
- The tower falls over completely.
Stick Stack is a simple game to learn but offers a fun challenge for all ages. It’s a great game for family game night or a gathering with friends.
