Gone are the days when the only expectations of an All-In-One are to print, scan, and photocopy. The modern All-In-One user expects an AIO to not only perform its basic tasks, but to also offer more in terms of functionality, be extremely user-friendly, demonstrate effective cost-saving and regard for the environment; and it must even look good in an office or home environment.
To meet these growing demands, Canon, a world leader in digital imaging, has released a new range of PIXMA photo printers, which includes the MP287, MG8270, MG5370, and iP4970 during an exclusive launch in the SM North EDSA City Style Annex on October 18, 2011. These printers are not only designed to suit all kinds of users, but share an emphasis on pleasant aesthetic design, user-friendly operation, creative features and Canon’s renowned image quality.

It guarantees excellent photo prints with its five individual ink tanks. Along with this, it also has direct photo print functions like direct card printing and Pictbridge..
PIXMA MG8270: The Ideal Photo All-In-One Printer with Film Scanning
The sophisticated features of the new printers are made more accessible with the Intelligent Touch System. Available on the MG8270 (Php19,295), it makes use of a LCD panel and a special touch-sensitive area to navigate through the various functions. What makes it more intelligent and appealing is the fact that only the relevant touch keys are lit at each menu, so that users are never overloaded with unnecessary options. The PIXMA MG8270 is the ideal photo all in one as it has six individual ink cartridges with gray ink for excellent and detailed monochrome prints. It also comes with film scanning capabilities for the traditionalists who still prefer to use film or those who would like to digitize their film.
Wi-Fi & Cloud Printing Capabilities
The MG8270 and MG5370 are equipped with Wi-Fi capabilities that are easy to set-up. With a wireless LAN network, print and scan capabilities of the printers can be conveniently shared between multiple PCs. Wi-Fi also allows the printers print photos directly from Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android OS devices.
PIXMA Cloud Link is a new service that will be made available to the MG8270 and MG5370. PIXMA Cloud Link allows printers to connect directly to online photo albums to view and print photos, without the aid of a PC. Not only can users print their favorite photos this way, useful document templates are also made available using the PIXMA Cloud Link service.
Freedom to create
Creatively-inclined users who like to experiment with their photos can do so with five Fun Filter Effects available with this new range of PIXMA printers. By playing around with these filters, users can stylize their photographs with Miniature Effect, Fish-Eye Effect, or even make the photos look like they’ve been taken with a toy camera.
Alternatively, Auto Photo Fix II can automatically adjust the levels and color balance of photographs so that they can be more vibrant and visually pleasing without the more stylized effects of the Fun Filters.
Video enthusiasts have traditionally not found much use for printers, but Full HD Movie Print has changed that notion. This new feature, available to the entire new PIXMA range, allows users to print video content (taken with, either as a series of thumbnails or as a composite, with all the frames merged together in a stylistic “moving photo” manner.

Premium print capabilities
FINE (Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering) is a technology that can achieve printing resolutions as high as 9600 x 2400 dpi. It achieves this with a print head that contains 4,608 nozzles that create microscopic ink droplets as small as 1pl for virtually grain-free photos. With FINE technology, a 4”x6” borderless photograph can be printed in approximately 20 seconds.
The Hybrid system integrates both dye color, which create beautiful color gradations, and Pigment Black, capable of printing sharp lettering. The combined use of these inks allows the printers to print top quality photographs and documents.
ChromaLife100+ is a system that combines the FINE high precision print head, Canon dye ink and Canon genuine photo paper to deliver beautiful and long-lasting photos. Photographs printed with this system have richer colors that are resistant to fading when exposed to light and gases; and can last up to 300 years in an album.
A greener future
In doing its part for the environment, Canon has equipped the iP4970, MG8270 and MG5370 and MG4170 with additional ECO settings. These easily adjustable settings allow the user to set the printer to automatically print two-sided printouts when printing PDFs, photocopying, or printing templates.
To conserve paper usage, these printers are all capable of Automatic Duplex Printing, also known as two-sided printing. They also have an ECO Information built-in, which keeps track of how many sheets have paper have been conserved and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the use of Auto Duplex Printing
Caring for the Environment
Canon products are manufactured to the highest environmental standards that include Energy Star certification for energy efficiency and compliance with the EU’s RoHS for hazardous materials. Recycled plastic is used extensively and printers launched this year will conserve even more packaging materials with a streamlined packaging relative to last year’s models. In daily use, the Quick Start feature conserves electricity, while Auto Duplex printing and the ability to condense multiple pages on a single sheet reduce paper use significantly. At every stage from factory to home or office, Canon’s photo printers are designed to have minimal impact on the environment.
