What makes a good daddy anyway? Some people say that good fathers should be good providers. They should be able to pay the bills, put food on the table and send their children to school. Some people say it’s about being present in their child’s lives whether it’s the first day of school, a stumble and a wound, a school play, a tea party or the graduation –they should be there. Comforting, supporting and encouraging their child. Some say being a good father is about leading the family. They should be there to protect and defend them from whatever harm that comes their way. Some say a good father sacrifices for the good of his family. A good dad does not live for himself but for others….loving unconditionally.
You see, it just takes a lot to be a good daddy. Just like the mommy they have a very wide job description. They’re pillars, providers, pillows, punching bags, savior, mechanic, handyman, driver, guard dogs, kiddie rides and leaders of the family.
They may screw it up from time to time but you know they are really trying their best ……
You are all of those things…and more, my love….
Thank you for doing all your best to be a great daddy….

What Makes a Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so,
He called it … Dad
