Lessons We Learned From Frozen 2 + A Disney Christmas at HK Disneyland

Mommies, Have you seen Frozen 2 yet? Ykaie and Twinkle adored the movie! Frozen has been a staple here in our household and when it was shown, there was continuous singing of Do You Wanna Build A Snowman? and Let It Go. These days, were all singing Into The Unknown on top of our lungs!

As a mom, what I love about Frozen and Frozen 2 is that it always show the bond, trust, and love between siblings. With Frozen 2, it promotes more love and I think it resonates to everyone who has great love for their family. Aside from that, I also think there are many lessons you can learn from the movie.

Lessons You Can Learn From Frozen 2

  1. Family Will Always Have Your Back – Frozen 2’s story still revolves around the bond, love, and trust between two sisters. It tells that no matter what happens, your sister will always support you and love you. One thing my sister and I have and something I want Ykaie and Twinkle to keep in mind.
  2. Fear Cannot Be Trusted – in the movie, King Runeard (Elsa’s grandfather) wanted to eliminate the Northuldra tribe because they had magical help from the forest, so he viewed them as a big threat to his kingdom. That fear led him to make a poor decision. As with real life, nothing born out of fear is good. When you fear something, you tend to avoid it at all cost. Best is to confront it head on so you can make the best decision on what to do.
  3. Always Do The Right Thing – All throughout the movie, Elsa and Anna had to make tough decisions. As with real life, decisions has to made everyday. Even though it won’t be beneficial to you, if it’s the right thing, then it’s what you have to do.

We love Frozen 2 as much as we love Frozen. It’s a great movie about sisterly-love and an epic journey of self-discovery and conquering your fears. I love the catchy tunes and the dazzling animation.

It’s an animated movie for all ages! As in– ALL! Even I enjoyed it. And I know you loved it too.  All the more reason to visit Hong Kong Disneyland this season.

Mga Mamsh, How Do You Spot A Low Quality Diaper?

As mothers who only want what’s best for your little ones, choosing the best diaper brand is crucial in ensuring your baby’s utmost comfort and well-being. With a lot of diaper brands out in the market, the natural inclination is to go for low-cost, low-quality diaper options, however, cheaper may not always mean more savings. In fact, investing in high-quality diapers can turn out to be more friendly to the pockets in the long run.

So how do you know when a diaper brand is of low quality? If it’s Lawlaw.

Pampers is here to help explain why a lawlaw diaper is a low-quality diaper.

Lawlaw diaper = lowlow quality
A strong indication of a low-quality diaper is a saggy diaper. When you spot a lawlaw diaper, it only means that wetness is absorbed in just one area. This uneven distribution of wetness shows that the entire diaper is not used up so it ends up getting full easily. This then results to more frequent diaper changes, which may in turn make you spend more in a day.

Lawlaw diapers may lead to skin rashes

Because lawlaw diapers are lowlow in quality, pee is concentrated in just one area. This creates a pool of wetness inside the diaper, and when baby’s skin is soaked in wetness, it is more likely prone to diaper rashes. Studies also show that low-quality diaper users experience 2x more leakage than less-lawlaw diaper users.

Lawlaw diapers can hinder baby’s mobility

According to the 2013 Go Naked study, saggy or lawlaw diapers may hinder baby’s ability to walk properly. This bulkiness is caused by the undistributed pee inside a diaper that may lead to discomfort and difficulty for baby to rove around and play.

Taekwondo World Champion, Janice Lagman Lizardo (@jan_lizardo), shares on her recent Instagram post how she values her son Jace’s playtime: “We would always want our babies happy and feeling comfortable with whatever they do especially when they are playing…I decided to switch to Pampers which absorbs the pee evenly from front to back. This diaper is less lawlaw so Jace can play as long as he likes without interruptions from his diaper.”

Lawlaw diapers may end up being more expensive

In the recent survey of Pampers PH, 92% of the moms agreed and noticed that Pampers is less ‘lawlaw’ compared to the previous diaper brand their kids were using.

If you count the number of diapers used in a day of cheaper diapers vs Pampers diapers, it might come as a surprise that moms may end up using more with cheaper diapers due to the frequent changes. In a day, for instance, it usually takes only 2 diaper changes* with Pampers and about 3-4 changes when using cheaper diapers. That’s actually 2x more spend vs choosing Pampers.

My Vicks #TouchOfCare Story

I couldn’t stop crying when I first watched this #TouchOfCare video of Vicks. This is a true story and it features Agnes, a mother who adopts a baby boy, Jason. She didn’t know that Jason is infected with HIV and the story evolves with her struggle to take care of Jason. Under Agnes’ loving care, Jason survives and lives a normal life (with HIV laying dormant).

I am really touched by the story mainly because I am a mother and I can feel how Agnes feels. It’s heartbreaking to find out and see that someone you love getting ill. And that if only you can take that illness and discomfort that they feel, you would, just to see them feel better. This only shows that nothing can be stronger than a mother’s love and care. And a mother would do anything to make their kids feel better.

Ykaie and Twinkle had coughs and cold for the last two weeks. Lahat kami puyat. Hindi sila makatulog dahil ubo sila ng ubo and minsan hindi sila makahinga dahil barado ang ilong. Ako naman hindi makatulog kasi nag-aalala ako sa kanila. I nursed them back to health by giving them my #TouchOfCare through nutritious meals, hilot ng Vicks Vaporub sa Likod at dibdib. Naglalagay ng Vicks Vaporub sa talampakan tapos suot ng socks before sleeping (Ginagawa nyo rin ba to, mommies?), and of course by giving them their prescribed medicines. Happy ako na after two weeks wala na silang ubo’t sipon.

I can also relate in the story because I know na lahat tayo has maternal instincts that can give love and care to anyone who needs it. You don’t even need to be a real mom to be able to show your own #TouchOfCare. An example is with my ate. Even way before my mom became sick, she used to tell me “Wag mo pababayaan ang ate mo ha?” Sabi ko pa nga sa kanya, “eh diba ako ang bunso? dapat ako ang di nya pabayaan?” LOL! But kidding aside, since then, I’ve always looked out for my ate. I make sure she eats right (mahilig kasi sya sa chichirya and all the unhealthy food you can think of), looks after the house when she’s not home and generally be the “ate” or the “2nd mom” for her as she is the 2nd mom for me on different aspects of life naman.

We are looking out for each other as our nanay would look out for us.

TIPS ON HOW TO GIVE YOUR KIDS A #TOUCHOFCARE
  1. Hug Often – Make sure that hugging is part of your daily routine. According to studies, hugging makes us healthier and happier and releases a bonding hormone that keeps us closer. Diba nga sa Trolls, they wear watches that gives off an alarm every hours for their “hug time”?  You can also set your own alarm and shout “hug time” to your kids. I’m sure they will love it!
  2. Play With Them – Set aside a time of the day where you spend time with your kids. You can do silly things, dance, color a coloring book, paint, tell a story, cook together, eat together. Just generally bond and spend quality time with them.
  3. Use affection when disciplining your kids – I do this with Ykaie and Twinkle. After reprimanding them (which we can’t help when too stressed out), I make sure I hold their hand as I explain to them what they did wrong and what’s the right thing to do. At the end of the conversation, I make sure I give them a hug to let them know that even though I got mad a while ago, I still love them.
