We Tried Romantic Baboy’s Unli Samgyupsal

We have been fans of unlimited samyupsal these days. With peanutbutter♥ and I switching to a low carb diet, mas gusto pa nga namin ngayon ang mga samyupsal restos than others. Si Ykaie naman — she loves pork belly talaga so she really won’t say no when you tell her that we’re going to eat at samgyupsal.

When we found out that my ILs haven’t tried it yet, we told them that’s where we’re going to eat next time so they can experience it. So when my FIL celebrated his birthday, we went to Romantic Baboy Brittany Square branch. We were happy and surprised to find out that there’s no waiting line on a weekend! Kasi diba usually pilahan sa mga samyupsal resto?

We took two tables and had the Unli Pork + Beef for ₱499. It includes 6 side dishes, rice, and lettuce. Their grill has these small “pockets” on the edges where they put the Kimchi (so it’s hot, instead of cold), cheese for the cheese sauce, and the egg.

Meats to choose from includes Herb Samgyupsal, Woo Samyup (thin beef slices), seasoned pork neck, daepae samgyupsal (thin sliced pork belly), curry beef, spicy beef, and yangyum galbi.

Si Ykaie ang taga-grill sa kabilang table… and of course, this is an activity she enjoys doing.

Grabe, we were so full after. Syempre hindi naman kami nag-rice. And you won’t believe how many refills of the cheese sauce we had. Mga 6 refills yata…

As for my ILs, I think they enjoyed their experience naman. May pa-red rose pa nga sila at the end of the meal. Romantic talaga! (Happy Birthday and Thanks for the treat, Papa!)

So what did I like about my Romantic Baboy experience?

I love that the meats are of high quality and the marinated ones are flavorful.
I like that there’s cheese sauce and their Kimchi is really good.
The staff are attentive and the a/c is cold.

Buffet Lunch at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, Mother Ignacia

Classes was cancelled last Wednesday due to typhoon Falcon but because it wasn’t raining and the day was looking a little bright, we decided to have lunch out. We’ve been wanting to try the buffet breakfast and buffet lunch for quite sometime now at Vanilla Cupcake Bakery because they have the cutest store and the cutest set-up. Plus, the restaurant isn’t that far– and so we went.

Vanilla Cupcake Bakery’s buffet wasn’t that big nor that extensive but there’s quite a lot of food. There was variety and it wasn’t that overwhelming that when you try to have a taste of everything on the table. The price of ₱358 per person is also quite reasonable. Ykaie’s first stop was pasta.

But for Twinkle, dessert comes first since the mini-cupcakes was the first on the buffet table.

This is their pasta selection. They have bowtie pasta, penne pasta, and of course spaghetti. As for the sauce, you can choose from bechamel, bolognese, and garlic aglio olio.

Soup of the day: Bulalo Soup, this is very tasty ha considering soup lang talaga sya… They also have an appetizer station and small salad station beside this.

For the rice, you can choose from Plain rice, Tinapa rice, and Bagoong rice.

Viands: Bagnet, Tokwa’t baboy, Tokwa and Togue, and sliced pork with sauce (sorry na, di ko to tinikman eh)

Drinks are: Sago’t Gulaman, Dalandan Juice, and Detox Water.

Grabe! We were so full. Good thing may baon kaming Dutch Mill Delight. We made sure to drink one after such a feast to keep our tummies in good condition.

#ChristmaSMoments Food Crawl At SM North EDSA

It’s #EatPlayShopInTheCity again as I join yet another food crawl at SM North EDSA. Since this is the nearest mall where I live (SM Sangandaan doesn’t count ’cause it’s so small, okay), this is the mall we frequent. So when I was invited to do a food crawl, I just had to say yes. I wanted to try out new restos SM North has to offer and get to know some of those who are already there but we never tried as a family.

Guess who went along with us on this gastronomic adventure? Ms. Elevator Girl Cheridel Alejandrino and Santa Claus!

Number 1 Barbecues

Our food crawl started at Number 1 Barbecues who served us their 12-hour smoked US Beef, Pork Sisig, and Chicken Barbecue. The beef was very tender and juicy, the sisig was crunchy and tasty, and their chicken barbecue was cooked just right.

Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen

Second stop was the newly opened Ikkoryu Fukuoka Ramen where they served us their different kinds of ramen. I love Ramen so this was ramen heaven for me. I didn’t have any favorites though because each has its own set of flavor but one thing that brings out the flavor in all of them is that rich, creamy, flavorful broth.

Bakeology by Cassalu

After the barbecue and the ramen, it’s time for dessert! Off we went to Bakeology. Bakeology makes it possible for you to get 12 kinds of cheesecake by buying only one with their “12 Flavors of Cheesecake”. If you’re not after one whole cheesecake, you may opt to but their cheesecake on a stick.

Marugame Udon

Fourth stop is Marugame Udon. It’s actually my second time at this restaurant and the first time, I was with family. I ordered this rice and it didn’t fail to satisfy my curry cravings. Their yakitori, udon, and katsudon are delicious as well.

Cafe Amazon

Now I wonder why I haven’t seen Cafe Amazon before? Oh because it’s located at the 2nd floor of the Annex building. At sa kadulo-dulohan pa. Cafe Amazon is a popular coffee shop in Thailand but they also serve milk teas. What you can see above is Iced Thai Tea. I hope to be back soon to try their other coffee and tea variants.

Bo’s Coffee

After tea, it was coffee time at Bo’s Coffee. We were served hot coffee, breakfast meals, and pasta…

Chili’s

Dinnertime found at Chili’s and with their famous BBQ Ribs and the new Steak and Shrimp. By this time I was too full to eat so I just tried a couple of bites. I was already stuffed! (Kamusta naman ang diet, ahuhu)

We’re supposedly going to 8 restaurants but I only got to the 7th. I really enjoyed the food crawl SM North EDSA treated us to. I got to know a couple of restaurants I wouldn’t know if not for this event. Should SM North EDSA be your shopping destination this season, I hope this post gives you an idea where to dine when hunger strikes.
