On December 11, 2011, my birthday, we checked out of Shangrila’s Mactan Resort and Spa and checked-in at Plantation Bay. We had the hotel shuttle drop us off at SM and then from there we took a cab. It was a good 30-45 minute ride to Plantation Bay and the cab charged for P350.
Plantation Bay Resort is one of the best resorts I’ve seen. With it’s man-made saltwater swimming lagoon and sleek, cozy villas, it would make you feel like you’re at The Hamptons — only cozier and much more homey.
Sis made a reservation for a Lagoon Side Room, it has a balcony which opens directly onto the man made lagoon. The typical rate for this type of room is $190 per night{breakfast not included}.
We went in at the Tahiti Villa, this is what the front door looks like…
…and this is the balcony that opens directly to the lagoon. You can be in the water a few seconds after leaving your room.
Since we arrived around lunch time and were starving, we didn’t bother to go around the resort to check out which restaurant was open. We just ordered room service from Kilimanjaro Kafe, the only 24-hour restaurant inside the resort. {< Click the link for a closer look at our lunch}.
While we were waiting for the room service I took photos of our room….
..and helped myself with those delicious local goodies in the welcome gift basket.
