Our Staycation at The Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa {Part 1}

I had such a luxurious and grand time at the Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa back in 2011 that I promised myself to take peanutbutter♥ there when he comes home for his vacation. So two months before his vacay, I made a reservation for two nights. And we woke up really early on that day because our flight was around 7am via Cebu Pacific.

We left ianne A. at the Park & Fly and managed a Chicken Alfredo and coffee breakfast before boarding the plane.

Thank goodness Ykaie is already used to flying. I didn’t have to deal with tantrums and dizziness.

Instead of a shuttle service, a private car picked us up from the airport. If I’m not mistaken, it was a toyota vios and we were the only ones inside the car. Once inside the car, we were given cold towels that smelled so good so we can freshen up.

As usual, check in time is 2pm and we were too early. We were given a card that says we were allowed to use the hotel facilities and were informed that they will call us once our room is ready. We decided to roam around the hotel first to pass the time but we received a call from the front desk after 30 minutes telling us that our room was ready and we could now check in.

Thunderbird Resorts Rizal {Part 1: Our Room}

My sister bought a membership at Thunderbird Resorts in Binangonan, Rizal and along with that came some coupons for a couple of free stays and some discounted stay.

We decided to avail of the free stays last month, a couple of days weeks after peanutbutter♥‘s arrival.

Just like how we always like to roll — which is in terno outfits — we decided to wear rainbow colored tops and white bottoms for the white and green surroundings of Thunderbird Resorts.

We arrived around lunch time, much earlier than the check-in time of 2pm, so we decided to just have lunch first at The Pool Bar. While waiting for the food and the room, the kids played at the nearby playground after a short pictorial by sis.

Our lunch table is near the gazebo so we stole a few shots here while waiting for our food!

Discovery Country Suites Tagaytay (Part 1:Our Room)

On the day that peanutbutter♥ arrived from Dubai and immediately after Ykaie’s Recognition Day, we headed over to the Discovery Country Suites in Tagaytay where we have a reservation for two nights.

I know how tired peanutbutter♥ must be so I wanted to drive ianne A. but he insisted that he missed the car so much, he wanted to drive..LOL! So even after 9 hours of flight and almost two hours of recognition day ceremony, he went for another two hours of driving.

I wanted this vacation to be as relaxing and as memorable as possible and I’ve read wonderful reviews about this hotel. It also has a high customer satisfaction rate in booking sites that’s why I chose it amongst the others.

We were given a small glass of Mango Grape Shake as a welcome drink the moment we arrived. It was a hot day and just a little after noon so it was a welcome refreshment.

There are only seven rooms at Discovery Country Suites and I reserved the second to the largest room {61 sq m} which is the Nantucket. It is located on the main level and features a laid-back American Cape Cod concept with light blue walls, pastel tones and natural fabrics. It has two double beds which means it could easily accmomodate a family of four.

It has a small receiving area where the coffee/tea making facility, fridge and t.v is also located.
