We Visited the Animals at Yoki’s Farm

We decided to go out and take the kids to Yoki’s Farm this week. We felt like we all need to take a break from everything even just for a day for the sake of keeping our sanity. So I looked fro a place that’s open air and not so crowded to take the kids to — and I found Yoki’s Farm! It’s perfect because I’ve been wanting to take the kids to a farm even before the pandemic.

Yoki’s Farm is located in Mendez, Cavite — actually almost Tagaytay na — konting kembot na lang. We decided to go on wednesday — weekday hump day para konti lang ang visitors.

We left our home in Caloocan at around8am and had a stopover breakfast in the car. Bawal pa ang kids sa mga restaurants and fastfood, so we just bought food for take out and ate in the car.

Because we rarely go out — as in once in a blue moon, and we didn’t have Auto Sweep RFID — na-traffic kami going to Cavite. We arrived at lunch time — of course, the kids weren’t allowed in restaurants — so we just bought Jollibee meals and ate at Yoki’s Farm food court area.

The Farm Tour at Yoki’s Farm costs ₱300/person + ₱100 for the tour guide. The Animal Encounter (which is what we got) is for ₱800/person + ₱100 for the tour guide. Kids up to 7 years old gets a discounted rate of ₱560. So we paid a total of ₱3,060.

Yoki’s Farm has a bed and breakfast and a restaurant but it’s closed right now because of the pandemic. They also don’t have Hydrophonics Harvest at the time that we were there.

As per the tour guide, Yoki’s Farm is a 10-hectare farm but not all is utilized for the tour. It is open from 7:00am to 5pm.

There is one tour guide per family or per group of visitors. and since konti lang ang tao, social distancing is really implemented. No two groups of visitors are in in one area…

This trip really is a breather for us — may konting change of scenery and activity. Medyo nabasawan ang stress namin. Stay at home na ulit.

Our Stay At Kasa Luntian Tagaytay

Tagaytay is and will always be one of our favorite places to go to when we want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

First is because it’s only a two-hour drive away, second is because of the cold weather, and third is because there’s an abundance of resorts, hotels, and b&b’s where you can stay and relax. If you’re following me on Instagram (If not, follow me na @thepeachkitchen) and IG Stories, you know that a week after our Taiwan vacation, nag-staycation naman kami sa Kasa Luntian.

Kasa Luntian is actually leisure residential condominium developed by Alveo Land while The Serviced Residences At Kasa Luntian naman provides daily, weekly, or monthly accomodations accompanied by impeccable service… just like your favorite resort or hotel.

Our Room – One Bedroom Suite

We had the one bedroom suite with a published rate of ₱7,000 for two adults and two kids.

It features a bedroom with a king bed, separated by a sliding door from the living room which has a sofa that doubles as a bed na rin, if you have four people staying in the room.

It has a fully functioning kitchen with a Nespresso Machine. If you are planning on cooking you’re own food, you can do so because inside the cabinets are pots, pans, dinnerware, and utensils.

The small dining area turned into my “office” that night.

This is the coffee and tea making facility. I love that their water bottles comes in glass bottles instead of plastic.

The Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is located at the center of the estate. It’s made up of four cascaded swimming pools with the bottom two being heated pool.

Twinkle and Ykaie was very excited when they saw this, pero syempre merienda muna at the veranda before swimming para may energy…

After waking up the next morning, gusto na agad ni Twinkle mag-swimming!

But of course, we have to have breakfast first. Breakfast was at Taza Mia! located at The Lanai.

And because it was a cold morning, we thought it best to stay at the heated pool at the bottom. Ykaie and twinkle had so much fun swimming at ayaw na umahon! If only we can stay longer there we would — it’s so nice to stay there. The staff are approachable, friendly, and accommodating. It’s clean! And most of all, it’s close to everything — the road, the mall, the restaurants, and the coffee shops.

Summer is blazing in the city now, if you’re looking for a quick family getaway that would take you away from the hustle and bustle and give you a cozy escape, then you should try a staycation at The Serviced Residences at Kasa Luntian.

A Day at The Oriental Luxury Suites Tagaytay

One of the things I’m thankful we were able to do last May is that we were able to sneak in some R&R despite such a busy schedule.

This escape at The Oriental Luxury Suites in Tagaytay would have been included in the second leg of our Summer 2018 trip. If you can remember the first leg, it was in April at Sunset Bay Beach Resort and Thunderbird Resorts Poro Point. No more trips followed after that because nanay became bedridden. All our scheduled trips were already booked and we had to cancel and rebook them. We weren’t able to cancel this one, though, since we got the reservation at 50% off. So we went with my ILs, instead.

Our Rooms

The original rate of rooms at The Oriental Luxury Suites is ₱10,000 per night — well, at least on the first level. We got it for just ₱5,000 per night. We were able to book two first level rooms that has two queen beds: Khao Sok and Phanom Rung.

The hotel asked us if we can give one of our rooms to another senior guest that night and in turn, our room will be upgraded to one of the second floor rooms at no extra cost.

…and it opens up into balcony with a nice view.

…and this is where you’ll find the coffee and tea making facility. The rooms don’t have it. You can prepare unli instant coffee but there’s an extra charge if you want your coffee prepared from the espresso machine.

Swimming Time

Swimming time came just a few hours after we arrived. Syempre, the kids are really excited to go swimming. This is what they’re always looking forward to every time we go on a staycation. At first Twinkle was a bit afraid of the water but after a few minutes nagda-dive na sa knee-deep stairs..LOL.

Tagaytay was a bit cold in May, would you believe? Well, maybe because it was drizzling a bit that day too. Ang #TitaOfManila –which is, well, me — syempre hindi nakatagal sa lamig. Umahon kaagad kasabay ni Mama Lucy and Papa Sony. peanutbutter♥ remained in the pool to look after the kids…. na ayaw pa umahon at kulang na lang ay dun na tumira sa swimming pool. Good thing there’s such a thing as being exhausted and when they used up all their energy, they needed a refill.

The kids were hungry after swimming but hotel didn’t have any restaurant. Thankfully, we were in Tagaytay and there were lots of restaurants nearby. We went out to eat dinner and went back at the hotel for coffee before retiring for the night.

Breakfast

Breakfast was included in the reservation and it was served at the dining area in the lobby just outside the Phanom Rung room.

Mama and Papa had the the Filipino Breakfast which consists of a little bit of everything — parang fiesta!. There’s garlic rice in that small red container, boneless bangus, danggit, beef tapa, salted egg, and tomato and a side salad which I wasn’t able to take a photo of….

peanutbutter♥ and I had the American Breakfast which is composed of wheat bread, chicken sausage, bacon, hashbrowns, two eggs, and a side salad.

Ykaie got this..Ito yata ang “kiddie meal” nila — garlic rice, fried egg, chicken sausage, and tapa.

Swimming Again

After breakfast, swimming ulit ang kids. While the lolo and lola took their sweet time to rest in the lobby and breathe in the fresh air while watching their apos play in the pool.

What I Like About The Oriental Luxury Suites:

The staff are friendly and accommodating.
You can get unlimited serving of instant coffee and tea at the lobby.
There were lots of restaurants around the area.
The room is big, the beds are super comfortable to sleep in, and there’s fast wifi connection.
Super cold a/c and the place is beautiful.

What I Didn’t Like:

The only toiletry we had was shower gel, we didn’t have soap, shampoo, conditioner, and toothbrush. (Maybe because we got it at 50% off?)
The coffee and tea making facility was located at the lobby. If you want coffee at say, 4am (like me), well, you have to go out of your room to get a cup.
No phone in each room and you have to use a bell to call a staff for help.
No room service because there’s no restaurant in the hotel.

Over all, it was a nice break from our everyday hustle. I just wished we were on vacation for two days…
